- Lyn Olsen

- By Yadira Roman

Australian born artist, Lyn Olsen's approach to contemporary art can be summed up as enigmatic natural life realism. Drawing from her Australian background and numerous travels, she etches her experience into the canvas in vivid colors, ebullient patterns, and dimensional lighting. Olsen captures the now nearly extinct coral reefs that are neighbor to her home and allows her paintings to stand as a testament for the electric beauty discovered in these complex natural organisms.

With an evident fondness for capturing seascapes and landscapes, Olsen carefully constructs flat surfaces, and at times muted backgrounds leading for thick strokes to take front center in exposing dazzling texture onto her subjects that often include plants and exotic fish. Boasting with movement, and the natural order of life underwater, her signature essence remains as the delicate, and welcoming display of her appreciation for these sightings. With a rich background as a teacher conducting workshops and the joys of traveling and exhibiting her work, Olsen's uplifting view of life is reflected not just in her work, but in the success that follows her career becoming a magnet for those seeking that quench for life.
