- Mona Choo
With an emphasis on Science and Spirituality, Mona Choo encompasses existential themes in her multidimensional surreal 3D mixed media works. The Singaporean artist has borne a unique style where she fuses sculptures, drawings, and digital prints. While many of Choo's mind-altering illustrations appear to leap from their base towards the viewer, others seem to recess inwards through clear acrylic paper and down towards an unknown abyss. She studies concepts of consciousness and sets the tone for creative freedom as she explores the idea of different dimensions.
Her 3D drawings are as inspiring as they are skillfully executed. Choo uses clever shading, line work, and perspectives to create her hand-drawn 3D optical illusions. From human subjects, geometric patterns, and symbols, the talented artist can make any image appear as though it's come to life. The attention to detail that is applied to each of her pieces is astounding. Recently, Choo has ventured into expressionism using acrylic to express her thoughts, feelings, and depth of consciousness. When she's not exploring the intricacy of human nature, Choo sheds light on physical limitations in her monochrome pieces. A polymath who gives us her elaborate understanding of the working of the universe in stunning displays that feed the eyes and mind.
“As a multi-disciplinary practitioner, my work sits in the overlap between science and spirituality, and the key influences for my work include theories of quantum physics, sacred geometry, hidden dimensions and the human condition.”
