- Pia Buxbom

- By Daniel Limo

Pia Buxbom is a creative activist from Denmark, she makes intricate scenes in 3D printed sculptures and large scale oils on canvas. Buxbom discusses socio-economic issues, environmental preservation, gender equality, inspirational ideas from her life experiences, and desire to promote self-empowerment. These scenes show a refreshing depiction of symbolic imagery in objects, and geometric shapes often allowing each metaphorically charged sculpture to focus on her message as she steers away from colors, and embraces the neutral mood set by the organic tones of her media including bronze, and copper. A curious mind, and heart Buxbom enjoys her travels as a source of her creativity, often influenced by different cultures and belief structures around the world.

“The inspiration for my art comes from ordinary people in everyday life, which I transform into paintings or sculptures. The last thing is that I use a 3D printer to make the sculptures. When the sculpture is done, I have made all the processors from idea to the finished sculpture.”
