For many of us who dream—nay, covet—a midcentury gem of our own and work hard to find ourselves calling one home, it sure feels like winning.

After the summer vacations are over, or I come back home from a night out on the town, coming home always feels like the bigger coup. Don’t get me wrong, my little rancher is far from perfect, and the work we’ve done to spruce it up and bring it back has been hard fought. But no matter, I still feel like the luckiest gal in the world.

The homes we tour in this issue are all about homeowners—and midcentury houses—that are winning. They are folks who’ve managed to settle into their own special gems, worked hard to restore, preserve and outfit their rooms with dreamy coveted things and have come out on top.
