tends to be synonymous with summer: palm trees, tiki drinks and pool parties just go hand- in- hand with bold roofl ines and sprawling fl oor plans. But to me, Mid Century Modern homes just glow in the fall. There’s a romance to the idea of fl oor- to- ceiling windows framing the amber light glimmering around the silhouettes of a home’s inhabitants as they settle in for a cool evening.

Give me all the wooded landscapes enshrouding fab A- frame cabins in the mountains and towering pines hugging the post- and- beam glass houses in the Pacifi c Northwest. Nothing looks better on my Eames Hang- It- All than a chunky scarf and vintage cardigan. Can you tell that fall is my favorite season?

In the fall, we at Atomic Ranch tend to focus on the cozy side of mid century living. There’s a renewed interest in interiors as we focus inward for the rest of the year. And while yes, we’ve all been home lately more than ever before, this is still the season of hosting, nesting and roosting, and we turn our attention to the things that inspire comfort and rest.

This issue is full of homes with unique personalities. They’ve done the work of restoring and renovating the bones, but also tended to the furniture, collections and décor that make a house a home. And as you’ll see with each page of ideas and recommendations, this is the time to focus on not only what you need, but what makes you happy.
