Food donations sought
The Hays County Commissioners Court proclaimed September as Hunger Action Month and is seeking monetary and food donations for the Hays County Food Bank.
The food bank has distributed more than 700,000 pounds of food via its seven public food distributions throughout the county and multiple partner agencies and to students through its backpack program. It also provided a traditional holiday meal for more than 6,000 individuals.
“A $25 donation can provide 100 meals through the buying power of the food bank, and $30 provides a family with a turkey and traditional sides for a holiday meal,” said Precinct 2 Commissioner Mark Jones, vice president of the food bank’s board of directors.
