Central Health officials will conduct a final public hearing Tuesday at 6 p.m. on projects aimed at improving health care in Travis, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette and Lee counties. The hearing will be held at 1111 E. Cesar Chavez St.
Central Health is the lead organization for the Regional Healthcare Partnership, which was created to make the improvements with money from a statewide Medicaid overhaul, known as the 1115 waiver.
Projects in the six counties focus on expanding primary care, specialty services and mental health care.
The projects include $4 million to expand mental health and substance abuse services in Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette and Lee counties; $19.5 million to better coordinate care of low-income Travis County residents who have two or more chronic illnesses; $18 million for a primary and behavioral health care clinic in Lockhart; $16.6 to improve patient satisfaction and reduce patient readmissions to University Medical Center Brackenridge; and $16 million to expand residential treatment for mentally ill people in Travis County.
