Tony Lee: The idea that the Confederate flag represents racism is laughable. This is a rewrite of history by a few to attack those they’re politically opposed to.

The Hays school board has banned the Confederate flag entirely on district property and at districtsponsored events, after voting in 2000 to phase out its official use.

Mike Moeller: So much for liberal tolerance. What happened to the First Amendment?

Carla DeSantis: Celebrating slavery is tolerance?

Scott Holland: It’s stupid. The Confederate flag was not a flag of racism; it was a flag of the Confederate military.

Kelly Saccomanno: Ahh, ignorance. It represents treason, for the purpose of clinging to the lifestyle of slavery. People crowing about some “heritage” are laughable. And really, condoning treason. Yet these same people will be the first bleating about AMURRICA. Pick one.

Kevin Pierpoint: By all means, do something cosmetic to address the problem rather than actually address it.

Robin Rieck: The only place that flag belongs is in a history book.

Barry Woltag: Aside from merely dropping the Confederate flag, the Hays school district should drop the Rebel name altogether and adopt a new name. Get involved in the discussion about the day’s news on
