Couple turns jewelry booth into South Congress shop, Style Matters,

-

About six years ago, Anne and Edson Enriquez opened a booth together at the SoCo Artist Market. Now the husband and wife team has returned to South Congress Avenue, but this time as owners of the brick-and-mortar store Limbo Jewelry Design.

Limbo celebrates its grand opening with a party from 6 to 9 p.m. April 11 at 1604 S. Congress Ave., next to New Bohemia.

The store also will offer the services of a 3-D printer and feature original Limbo designs as well as lines from other local artists such as Haley Lebeuf Jewelry and ZZZ Threadz.

The grand opening will debut Limbo’s two latest collections, Tumini and Alambre. Designer Edson Enriquez was inspired by a three-dimensional concept for the Tumini line, while Mayan and Incan symbols inspired the Alambre line.

“For the new collections, I really focused on ancient Mexican cultures and the iconography and symbols they used for communication,” Edson Enriquez said in a statement.

“I wanted the jewelry to tell a story and the geometric simplicity in these designs also reinforces the Limbo philosophy.”

The grand opening event is open to the public, and will feature entertainment from DJ El John Selector of Thievery Corp.

Guests also will enjoy complimentary Tito’s vodka cocktails and snacks from Mettle. A portion of the sales during the night will benefit the Worker’s Defense Project and Austin Pets Alive.
