Believe it: District6shares city priorities
Re: May 5 article, “In Austin’s new District 6, a different set of priorities.”
I take exception to the article. The American-Statesman takes the position: “Many residents have little shared interest with the rest of the city.” As a resident of Balcones Village in District 6, I emphatically reject this unfounded conclusion. District 6 residents are concerned about keeping Austin affordable and improving infrastructure to manage our city’s growth. We are concerned with traffic, public transportation, environmental conservation and rising property values — just like many other citizens of our city. We are also concerned that Northwest Austin has received far less than its fair share of bond money and that the city of Austin has left many of the promises it made during its annexation of our neighborhoods unfulfilled. The upcoming City Council election is not a partisan election in our neighborhoods. This election is about who can give us a real voice in Austin’s government.
