Openhouse planned for Plaza Saltillo

- — MARGARET NICKLAS, AMERICAN STATESMAN

The Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority will hold an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Terrazas Branch Library, 1105 E. Cesar Chavez St., to share information and receive comments on the top four proposals to redevelop the Plaza Saltillo district. The goal of the redevelopment process is to transform the area into a revenue-producing, transit-oriented, mixed-use area that serves the public.

Four teams and their proposals were selected as finalists in a competitive process by the authority’s board of directors. Members of the public may talk to team members and offer written comments at the open house. Final selection is anticipated for later this month.

Plaza Saltillo is bounded by Interstate 35, Comal Street, East Fourth Street and East Fifth Street. Ten acres of its 11-acre area are targeted for redevelopment.
