It’s tricky to transfer photos to camera

-

A reader, Agustin, asks about moving digital photos around: “I’d like to transfer some pictures I downloaded to my laptop from the Internet to my digital camera. Can something like this be done?”

For some digital cameras, it’s possible to view photos that were not shot on that camera or to edit photos you shot and put them back on the camera’s memory card. Unfortunately, it could require jumping through a lot of hoops, such as naming the photo files a certain way and making sure they’re in a format the camera can view. Different digital cameras have differ- ent ways of handling images, and it may take some experimenting to figure out what photos you copy back to the camera’s memory card will work. You may want to edit the photo using software that came with your camera. You’ll need to connect the camera or the memory card to the computer and move the photos manually.

If you’re just looking for a way to view photos on the go, it may make more sense to transfer photos to a device with a screen such as a smartphone or an iPod Touch, if you already have one.
