Provisional votes could break election tie
Authorities are hoping that a tie between two candidates for a seat on the Bartlett school district’s board of trustees will be broken when provisional ballots are counted Friday.
Three candidates competed for two seats in last Saturday’s election. Jim Cooper, who led the way with 157 votes, won the first seat. But the second seat is a toss-up between Nelson Hall and Melissa Rafay, who each received 132 votes.
Williamson County elections administrator Jason Barnett said the county has received eight provisional ballots from Bartlett voters. If the tie still exists after those ballots are counted, there will be a runoff election, he said.
Provisional votes include overseas ballots and votes cast by people who could not provide identification during
voting.
