City police officers to be honored

The city will honor the men and women who serve as its police officers as well as other officials and members of the community in its 19th annual awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Parks and Recreation Department’s Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins St.

Police Chief Howard Williams will preside as recipients are honored with distinguished service awards, medals of honor, lifesaving medals and the police commendation medal. Awards for those serving 20 and 25 years will also be given.
