Q: Is chiropractic care safe and helpful for children?

A: Yes! Chiropractic care focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems and the effect of these disorders on general health. Being a child is physically very stressful. From being born, learning to walk, playing, sports, poor posture watching TV or playing video games, carrying backpacks — the list is endless. Just because they don’t complain doesn’t mean they don’t have a condition that can create problems later.

In young children who cannot communicate, misbehavior, poor feeding, irritability and problems sleeping or nightmares may be the only evidence of a condition that could benefit from chiropractic care. In older children, symptoms may include fatigue, headache, neck pain or restricted range of motion. “Growing pains” are often a sign of a musculoskeletal problem.

Just as children should have regular dental checkups, kids can benefit from periodic spinal checks.

Children’s vertebrae are largely cartilage that will turn to bone in the second decade of life. Children also have a laxity of ligaments, which makes it possible for a Doctor of Chiropractic to adjust a pediatric spine with very little force with just the fingertips. We also use specialized instruments to adjust children and elderly patients with low force without discomfort.

More parents are seeking chiropractic care for their kids. Hall Chiropractic offers a free initial consultation and exam. We accept most insurance and have payment programs for those without coverage. Call Hall today.
