‘MadMen’ star takes selfie with his wax figure
NEWYORK— What’s the first thing Jon Hamm did when he saw his wax figure unveiled Friday at New York’s Madame Tussauds? Took a selfie, of course. “That’s a no-brainer. I’m probably not done doing that either,” he told The Associated Press.
The wax figure is decked out in a debonair-looking gray suit. Ironically, Hamm, who stars in the AMC drama “Mad Men,” arrived at the unveiling wearing a gray suit.
“This is happenstance, but it is kind of crazy how kind of identical we decided to dress. I’m referring to him as a human being as if he dressed himself,” he said.
Hamm said he posed for the figure last year. It took months to craft.
The 43-year-old actor is in the middle of a publicity blitz for his new movie, “Million Dollar Arm,” which opens Friday.
“Mad Men” is airing the first part of its seventh and final season.
Hugh Jackman has more cancer removed
NEWYORK— Hugh Jackman has had another cancerous growth removed.
The 45-year-old actor attended the premiere of his latest film, “X-Men: Day of Future Past,” on Saturday night with a bandage over his nose. He told The Associated Press he had a basal-cell carcinoma removed two nights earlier.
Jackman said he learned the results of a recent biopsy May 8, and had it removed right after.
Basal-cell carcinoma is a slow-growing form of skin cancer. Jackman was treated for the same disease last year but said the prognosis was good: “It’s all out now.”
But he urges others to “get checkups and wear sunscreen.”
He says he hopes kids will listen to X-Men character Wolverine, or at least the man who plays him, and be smart about their health.
