Brady looks to Patriots’ opener
QB ready to leave ‘Deflategate’ in past, focus on Steelers.
Making his first public comments since the “Deflategate” court ruling, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Sunday that he is focused on preparing for Thursday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He also recognized his family, friends and Patriots owner Bob Kraft for their support.
“Everything that’s happened over the past seven months, obviously I have a lot of personal feelings, but I really don’t care to share many of those,” Brady said Sunday.
“I really care to think about what I need to do going forward. We’ve got a lot of guys in this locker room who worked really hard to get to this point, and so have I, and I’m excited to be able to go out there and do it.”
Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in using underinflated footballs during the AFC championship game was overturned Thursday by a federal judge who criticized NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for going what he said was “far beyond” the investigative conclusions of attorney Ted Wells.
Broncos: Running back Montee Ball, a second-round pick in 2013, was waived. Ball hasn’t lived up to expectations in Denver after scoring an NCAA-record 83 touchdown for Wisconsin.
Eagles: Stephen Morris was claimed off waivers from the Jaguars. The former University of Miami quarterback will be the No. 3 quarterback on Philadelphia’s roster.
Morris takes the job that Tim Tebow and Matt Barkley competed for during training camp and the preseason. Barkley was traded to Arizona on Friday. Tebow was released Saturday, leaving the Eagles with one vacancy on their 53-man roster.
Redskins: Coach Jay Gruden will decide whether Robert Griffin III or Colt McCoy is the backup quarterback for Week 1 after Griffin visits a neurologist early this week.
Griffin missed Washington’s final two preseason games after sustaining a concussion against Detroit on Aug. 20. He was originally cleared to return two days before the Redskins’ Aug. 29 game against Baltimore, before a team neurologist reversed his decision.
Cowboys: Traded a 2016 conditional seventhround draft pick to Seattle in exchange for 2013 second-round pick Christine Michael from Texas A&M.
