Dan DeSalvo’s power-play goal with less than two minutes left in regulation gave the Manitoba Moose a 5-4 win over the Texas Stars on Sunday in Manitoba, Canada.

DeSalvo finished with two goals and put the Moose ahead 4-3 after scoring 16 second into the third period. Texas’ Travis Morin evened the score with a power-play goal late in the third before DeSalvo hit in the game-winner. Morin had two goals and an assist.

Manitoba (11-8-1-1) has won four of its past five games and Sunday’s victory snapped the Moose’s fivegame losing streak against the Stars (11-8-1-1).

Jack Roslovic and Patrice Cormier scored 20 seconds apart in the opening five minutes of the game to give the Moose an early lead. Following a goal by Morin, a rebound goal by Jimmy Lodge put the Moose ahead 3-1.

The Stars rallied with two goals in the second period to tie it. Matej Stransky knocked in a rebound goal at 6:22 and Dustin Stevenson hit in a shot from the point with just over a minute remaining in the second.

DeSalvo got a pass in front of the goal and flipped the puck past Texas goalie Maxime Lagace to take the lead in the opening seconds of the third period. Lagace had 26 saves in the loss. Morin tied it at the 16:02 mark when his centering pass deflected off the leg pad of Moose goaltender Ondrej Pavelec and into the net. Pavelec finished with 31 saves.
