An Austin-based developer is looking to make an even bigger Ruckus in West Campus.

Lincoln Ventures, the company behind The Ruckus, says the yearold student housing project has been such a success that it’s planning a companion property, The Ruckus 2.0.

Construction started this month and work is expected to be done in time for the fall 2019 semester at the University of Texas.

The Ruckus 2.0, at 2401 Rio Grande St., will rise seven stories, with 67 units with a total of 239 beds, Lincoln Ventures said.

“With The Ruckus, our goal was to introduce a new way of living in the student housing industry,” David Kanne, president of Lincoln Ventures, said in a written statement. “Now we know the demand is there and The Ruckus 2.0 will allow more students to live in this sophisticated environment.”

The Ruckus, at 2502 Nueces St., is 100 percent leased, according to Lincoln Ventures. It has 45 units with a total of 160 beds.

Each unit at The Ruckus 2.0 will be fully furnished with cable and high-speed internet, as well as a washer and dryer.

Common areas will feature a number of amenities including a cyber café, round-the-clock study lounges, a package concierge and secured access. A “sky gym” and terrace are planned for the building’s seventh floor.

“We want the very best for our residents and the location, amenities and modern design all underscore that philosophy,” Kanne said. “After receiving such positive feedback on the original Ruckus, we were excited when the site at 24th and Rio Grande became available. We knew this was the right location for our next project.”
