Marshals on the hunt for 3D gun designer

-

A day after Austin police filed an arrest warrant for Cody Wilson, the man at the center of the nationwide 3D-printed gun controversy, the U.S. Marshals Service turned to the public for help in locating him.

Wilson, 30, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl he met on SugarDaddyMeet.com in August, and paying her $500.

Austin police Lt. Troy Officer said Wednesday that Wilson’s last known whereabouts were in Taiwan. While he couldn’t say why Wilson had left the United States, Officer said police knew someone had told Wilson the girl he is accused of assaulting had talked to police about the incident.

Austin police reached out to the Marshals Service’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, a special group composed of local, state and federal law enforcement, to find Wilson.

Anyone with information about Wilson’s whereabouts is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Tip Line at 512-8004213.

A man is in stable condition after he was shot during a robbery and burglary in San Marcos early Thursday, San Marcos police said.

Police responded to the Lodge Apartments at 1975 Aquarena Springs Drive in northeastern San Marcos around 12:22 a.m., they said. When police arrived, they found a man inside an apartment trying to give first aid to another man lying in a pool of blood after he was shot multiple times, officials said.

Witnesses told police they were inside an apartment when three men — two of whom were carrying handguns — knocked on the door, entered the home and told everyone to get on the floor.

The men began demanding money and drugs from the man who was later shot, the witnesses said.

“Witnesses say that at one point during the exchange, one of the intruders fired at the victim before all three fled the apartment on foot,” police said.

The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Seton Medical Center Hays. He is now in stable condition, police said.

The incident is still under investigation and San Marcos police are asking anyone with additional information on the case to call them at 512-753-2108.

Austin Justice Coalition director Chas Moore punched the manager of Recess Arcade Bar in May after he refused to leave the establishment, court documents filed Thursday say.

Moore was charged with misdemeanor assault after the scuffle, according to the documents. He was no longer in Travis County Jail on Thursday afternoon.

On May 27, Moore entered the bar at the intersection of Sixth Street and San Jacinto Blvd. Moore had previously worked at the bar and was fired, and the manager told him he had to leave because he was no longer allowed in, the documents say. Moore answered that he didn’t have to leave, they say.

The manager said he placed his hand on Moore’s side to escort him out after he refused to leave, the documents say.

Surveillance footage shows Moore standing at the bar talking to the manager before the pair break into a struggle and end up on the ground, court documents say.

Once the two men are outside the bar, the footage shows Moore punching the manager, the documents say.

Moore said on Tuesday that he is fully cooperating with the Austin Police Department.
