Austin Museum Day. Explore art, science, history and more this weekend when museums across the city offer free admission and activities. Monday

“Viva la Vida: Celebratin­g 35 Years of Mexic-Arte Museum’s

Día de los Muertos.” This MexicArte Museum show displays its 35-year quest to share and expand the public’s knowledge about Day of the Dead, in an annual tradition that has become a celebratio­n of Mexican and Mexican-American life and culture. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday through Nov. 25. 419 Congress Ave. mexic-artemuseum.org.

Tuesday

Soul Waves at the Line Austin. The chic hotel will have one final edition of its popular poolside D J series. The residency is hosted by D J Expo, who runs the wildly popular D J series Motown on Mondays in Los Angeles. There will be drink specials and batched cocktails galore. 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. 111 E. Wednesday

The Wine Down. The final night of this summertime tradition — a live music series featuring bites and a pop-up shop from two Second Street District businesses — features a show by Blackillac, drinks by Charles Smith Wines, food from La Condesa and a pop-up by Prize. Thursday

Ciderbrati­on at Banger’s. The Rainey Street bar might be all about beer, but this evening celebrates the wonders of cider and will tap some of the best ciders available in Texas. These include Texas Keeper Heirloom Cider, Austin Eastciders Spiced Cider, Finnriver Lavender Black Currant and more. Dougherty Arts Center’s

40-Year Anniversar­y. Celebrate 40 years of theater shows, art exhibition­s and more with family-friendly activities including a synth petting zoo, giant spirograph­s, selfie stations and music by Feedback Alliance and Midnight Butterfly. Still Austin Whiskey’s OneYear Anniversar­y. Austin’s first urban whiskey distillery is hosting a country fair in celebratio­n of its first birthday.
