Austin police say a man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after he pulled a knife on a manager at the Hooters restaurant on the 400 block of West Riverside Drive.

The man, identified by police as Kristopher Black, walked into the restaurant around 4:15 p.m. Saturday and reportedly asked the hostess an inappropriate question.

A manager asked Black to leave, but he refused, court documents say.

The manager escorted Black out of the establishment and said he tried to block him from reentering the restaurant. Black then pulled out a knife to threaten the manager, the documents say.

An assistant manager notified an Austin police officer who was dining at the restaurant. The officer saw Black brandishing the knife, confronted him and held him at the restaurant until other officers arrived to take him into custody, the documents say.

The incident was captured in surveillance video, the documents say.

Black was booked into the Travis County Jail on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. His bail was set at $10,000. — LUZ MORENO-LOZANO, AMERICAN-STATESMAN
