Parade, bingo and more set to celebrate Austin Pride in August

While the end of June meant the end of Pride Month for most of the country, the celebratio­n is just beginning in Austin.

The Texas capitol holds Austin Pride, marked by its huge parade and festival, in August to avoid competing with other Pride events in June. August is also when more college students are in town.

Here’s what you need to know about the Austin Pride parade as well as other LGBTQ+ events to check out:

Ibiza Island Austin PRIDE Pool Party Series

When: Aug. 6 and 13 from noon to 6 p.m.

Where: Canopy by Hilton Downtown, 604 W. Sixth St.

What: Pool parties with music and food that benefit different non-profits.

Dirty Dynasty Bingo

Austin

When: Aug. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. Where: Fourth & Co., 208 W. Fourth St.

What:

Free-to-play bingo with prizes, drinks and performanc­es from drag queens Cupcake and Lady Grackle.

Keep Austin Queer’d Austin PRIDE Parade and Festival

When: Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the festival and 8 to 11 p.m. for the parade

Where: Festival is at Fiesta Gardens on 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St., Parade begins at the capitol and marches down Congress Avenue

What: Austin’s premiere Pride celebratio­n featuring vendors, drag story time, carnival rides and more.

PRIDE Parade Watch Party

When: Aug. 12 from 7 to 11 p.m. Where: Stephen F’s Bar and Terrace, 701 Congress Ave.

What: A watch party on the terrace and inside the bar for the PRIDE Parade, featuring special themed cocktails.

Electric Rainbow Austin PRIDE Neon Party

When: Aug. 12 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Where: The Courtyard at Fourth & Co, 208 W. Fourth St.

What: A parade afterparty dancing and a glow art station.

Bounce Haus Austin PRIDE Hip-Hop Party

When: Aug. 12 from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Where: The Riley Building, 315 Lavaca St.

What: A party featuring New Orleans bounce music, hip-hop beats, Latin music and more.

Drag Queen Bingo

When: Aug. 13 and 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. Where: Still Austin Whiskey Co., 440 St. Elmo Road

What: Free bingo with prizes and a performanc­e from Senator Colleen Deforrest.

Brew Paul’s Drag Show

When: Aug. 26 from 9 to 11 p.m. Where: Meanwhile Brewing, Promontory Point Drive
