Burberry opens store at The Domain

- Beck Andrew Salgado

After months of anticipation, Burberry has become the latest luxury brand to open a storefront at The Domain in Austin.

It was announced in October of last year that the ritzy retail giant would be moving into the popular shopping center as part of a multimillion-dollar facelift.

The new location, which opened March 1 at 11501 Century Oaks Terrace, Suite K-109, is the first Burberry storefront in Austin and the fourth location in all of the Lone Star State — the others being in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston.

Representatives from Burberry have said that the recently opened space features an array of pieces from Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee's Spring 2024 collection, including men's and women's shoes and accessories.

The brand also said that the interior of the store includes fixtures designed by artist Casey McCafferty, alongside rugs from British artist Tom Atton Moore — details representatives say reinforce a commitment to luxury.

Domain makeover is in full swing

The Domain opened in 2007 and has since become a second downtown of sorts as Austin has grown over the last decade. The living and shopping community has also become the city's signature retail center, based on its size, scope and tenant mix.

Made up of stores, restaurants, boutique hotels and amenities — The Domain established its reputation in the city and is looking to grow. The Domain's brand has also made it a magnet for employers, which in recent years has fueled its growth with a wave of new office towers.

In August of last year, Simon Property Group, announced that it was planning a makeover for The Domain in an attempt to attract high-end global brands. Simon owns the original retail portion of The Domain, encompassing more than 1.2 million square feet on the western edge of the 300-acre property.

Burberry joins a growing list of luxury offerings in The Domain

In addition to the opening of Burberry, The Domain was able to add luxury icon Versace to the shopping center. Moreover, The Domain also boasts offerings like David Yurman, Gucci, Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton.

“Our redevelopment presents the perfect opportunity to dazzle shoppers with fresh retailers and we are thrilled to offer Versace and Burberry's luxurious wares at The Domain,” Monica Esparza, director of marketing at The Domain, said in an interview with the Statesman last year.

“As The Domain's renovation develops, visitors will continue to see many brands opening their doors, including several that are first to market.”
