Austin-area teams record bi-district wins Monday

The UIL state soccer playoffs started Monday with several Austin-area teams in action. Here are results from bi-district matches:

Boys: three games, three shutouts

Connally 6, Crockett 0: Orlando Frias had a hat trick and an assist, Noe Molina finished with a brace and an assist and Shehram Hayatullah scored as the Cougars recorded a Class 5A bi-district win. Roger Ruiz recorded the clean sheet in goal, while Lawrence Doe, Aaron Olalde and Alex Nunez also had assists.

Pflugerville 1, LASA 0: Logan Vann scored off an assist from Nico Martinez to give the Panthers the win in a Class 5A playoff game at House Park. Juan Denova recorded the shutout in goal for Pflugerville.

Liberty Hill 3, Smithson Valley 0: Jett Byars, David Candia and Marcello Bravo De Rueda scored, and Angel Cardenas provided the clean sheet in goal as the Panthers recorded their first playoff win in Class 5A.

Girls: Anderson, Cedar Park advance

Anderson 3, Stony Point 0: Gracie Ruthven scored twice, netting the first and last Anderson goals, and Jessica Greenway added a third as the District 26-6A champion Trojans blanked Stony Point in Class 6A bi-district action. Neve Chachanash­vili had a pair of assists and strong possession in the midfield and back line, while Stella Tatum added an assist. Goalkeeper Kendall Meachum had the clean sheet. Haley Zator led the Anderson defense.

Cedar Park 2, Smithson Valley 1: Sofia Peters and Sienna Fleniken each scored while Frances Tran and Grace Slaughter added assists as the Timberwolv­es used strong ball control to beat the Rangers in a Class 5A bi-district game. Freshman goalkeeper Jemma Hart had five saves in recording the victory.

Hendrickso­n 7, Ann Richards 0: Three different Hawks scored two goals each as Hendrickso­n shut out Ann Richards in its Class 5A playoff win. Kaylee McKinley, Brea Lewis and Kylie Marchand each had two goals, and Sidney Willis added the other. McKinley also had one assist, with Nathalie Gomez and Kenna McKinley both having two assists.

LASA 2, East View 0: Emily Lucas’ brace led the Raptors to the Class 5A bi-district win. It was the 17th shutout of the season for LASA (17-1-3). The Raptors’ lone loss was on Jan. 6 in tournament play to Class 6A El Paso Americas.
