Marriotts Ridge got back to what it does best — running the ball and playing stellar defense — on Saturday at Wilde Lake, and the Mustangs pulled out a 10-8 victory to stay in the playoff hunt and end the Wildecats’ four-game winning streak.

“Coming into the season we were trying to be what Marriotts Ridge has been the last two years,” said Mustangs senior Lewy Anania, who had 10 carries for 35 yards and was a key player on defense. “But we’ve learned this team has a different personality, this team is completely different than any other team we’ve had, so we got back to finding our roots as a team.” Both teams are 4-3. NO. 14 LONG REACH 35, GLENELG 7: Luis Gooden started a 35-0 run with an 83-yard fumble recovery in the first quarter.

The host Lightning improved to 7-0, and the Gladiators fell to 5-2.

PERRY HALL 41, DULANEY 36: Tyler Holly completed 18 of 25 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 84 yards to help the visiting Gators (5-1) past the Lions (3-3).
