Jets LB Henderson placed on reserve list

- — Candace Buckner, The Washington Post

The New York Jets, who will host the Ravens today, placed linebacker Erin Henderson (Maryland, Aberdeen) on the reserve/nonfootball injury/illness list and tight end Braedon Bowman on injured reserve, and promoted linebackers Victor Ochi and Julian Stanford from the practice squad. Henderson led the Jets in tackles the past two games, with 11 at Pittsburgh and seven at Arizona. In making the announcement Saturday, the team didn’t divulge the nature of Henderson’s ailment. Bowman, a backup who played in three games, has a torn ACL in his right knee. Stanford played three games this season but was waived last month, then signed to the practice squad. Ochi set a Stony Brook record with 321⁄2 sacks and was originally signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent. MORE NFL: The Houston Texans placed cornerback Kevin Johnson (River Hill) on injured reserve. The 2015 first-round draft selection has a broken foot, NFL Network reported. The team later confirmed the news. The earliest Johnson could return is Week 15 if Houston decides to use the return designation, but his season is likely over. Pro Football Focus had Johnson rated as its No. 8 overall cornerback this season. NBA: As expected, the Washington Wizards have picked up the third-year option of forward Kelly Oubre Jr.’s rookie contract, according to several NBA sources. The option for the 2017-18 season is for $2.09 million. Oubre will make slightly more than $2 million this season, his second in the league. The Wizards retain an option for Oubre’s fourth season. Oubre, 20, has played in all seven exhibition games and is second on the team in scoring (13.1 points per game on 49.2 percent shooting). Last year, Oubre averaged 3.7 points in only 10.7 minutes per game.
