Jim Peterson of Hayfields Country Club was low net champion with a 61. COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Johns Hopkins, ranked seventh in Division III, scored on six of its seven first-half possessions to build a 38-0 halftime lead and defeated visiting Gettysburg, 54-14, on Friday night to set a Centennial Conference record with its 34th straight league victory. Western Maryland (now McDaniel) won 33 straight from 1997 to 2001. The Blue Jays’ 34-game run is the secondlongest active league streak in the nation in any division. Hopkins (7-0, 6-0) scored a touchdown on each of its first three drives. The Bullets (2-5, 2-4) totaled just 46 yards on their first five possessions. The Blue Jays gained more than 300 passing yards (320) and 200 rushing yards (206) for just the eighth time in school history; seven of the eight have come since the start of the 2010 season. Senior Alex Crognale scored two goals on senior night Friday to help No. 1 Maryland (13-0-2) to a 2-1 victory over visiting Hofstra. Crognale scored in the fifth minute and in the 20th as the Terps extended their winning streak to 10 games. Hofstra, which had a 10-6 edge in shots, got a goal in the 84th minute. Maryland senior Cody Niedermeier (Broadneck) made five saves.
