Cozy elegance with history

Lutherville home features a mix of old and new

- By Lisa McLean

A colonial-style home in historic Lutherville is on the market for $472,000.

This three-story home built in 1930 is a mix of old and new and sits on a half-acre. The yellow siding with black shutters and a white trimmed side porch with fretwork trim give the house curb appeal.

The front door enters a formal living room with a coat closet, a brick fireplace and hardwood floors, which can be found throughout the first and second floors. Stairs at the back of this room lead upstairs, while a cozy dining room lies beyond an open doorway.

This dining room features white chair rail molding and crown molding around two big windows with plantation shutters and offers entry to the kitchen and a large bonus/family room that was added a few years ago.

This large room has an airy feel, with white ceiling beams and track lighting. Built-in white bookcases surround a large brick fireplace surrounded by brick and a white wood mantel. Crown molding accents the wood. A cutout window looking into the kitchen from the family room offers continuity. A powder room is located off the family room.

The kitchen was renovated in 2016 and features granite countertops and an oversized side-by-side stainless steel refrigerator. Other appliances include a gas range, dishwasher and microwave. A back door leads out to the backyard and a detached garage.

The second-story master bedroom is a good size and includes an adjacent sitting room. A small walk-in closet with white shelving offers some additional space. An attached full-bath with a shower includes a skylight for natural light.

The two additional bedrooms also have plantation shutter windows. There’s a full bathroom off the hallway.

The basement is semifinished and offers enough space for a good recreational room. The finished part has tile floors and some built-in shelving. The washer and dryer are in the unfinished part of the basement.

“This is a good chance to own in historic Lutherville,” said Sally Pfaeffle, the listing agent with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.

“The houses are unique — and it’s so close to the Beltway.”
