A house on Blythewood Road in North Baltimore that dates to 1928 is on the market for $2.195 million.

The four-level Colonial on almost 2 acres was designed by architect Thedore Wells Pietsch, who was also responsible for creating a number of Baltimore landmarks, including SS. Philip and James Catholic Church and the Recreation Pier.

The house has a total of six bedrooms and 6½ bathrooms.

The foyer has an Italian black-and-white diamond-shaped marble floor and leads to the living room, which has a wood-burning fireplace between built-in bookshelves. Original oak floors and oversize windows that let in lots of natural light give this room an elegant but comfortable feel. Many of the light fixtures are original.

Listing agent Georgia Usry says the house is great for families because its spaces are so versatile.

The formal dining room also features oak floors and a new ornate glass chandelier, as well as custom radiator covers and an Art Deco wet bar. The most outstanding features are the leaded glass windows. French doors open to a curved balcony overlooking the yard.

The kitchen was redone a few years ago and features custom cherry cabinetry, custom granite countertops, an elevated breakfast bar and a ceramic tile-heated floor.

The kitchen leads to a newer part of the house, a three-story addition that has a combination breakfast and family room with a wall of windows that look out over the property.

The house has two staircases leading to the upper and lower levels of the house. The main staircase leads to an expansive upstairs hallway with barrel ceilings and columns.

The master bedroom is a large airy room with panel molding and recessed lights. The master bathroom includes a shower and a dressing room with has three closets with louvered doors.

The second and third bedrooms are spacious and share a full bathroom with a shower and tub. The bedrooms have slanted ceilings and wood floors.

The fourth bedroom also features wood floors, an alcove, two closets and panel molding. Another full bathroom with ceramic tile floors and a shower-tub combination is off the hallway.

A back staircase near the kitchen leads to two lower levels. The first lower level features the new part of the house, which has a library with built-in shelves. This leads to an office space with more windows, and more views of the property. Another full bathroom is off the library, which leads to a game room. Farther down the hallway is an au-pair suite with a kitchenette and a full bathroom. Another bedroom can be found downstairs, which can be used as a den or office. From this hallway is another set of stairs that leads to the second lower level.

The second lower level features a utility room with washer and dryer, a refrigerator and built-in workbench and shelves. An exercise and recreation room with wall-towall carpet opens to a full bathroom. Another family room, also part of the new addition, has recessed lights, carpeting and French doors that open to a wrap-around balcony.

A door from the hallway on the first lower level leads outside to the back patio and a terraced yard. A path leads down to an in-ground pool and cabana with sliding barn doors.
