Babe’s Birthday Bash

-

Life as a world champion figure skater had an impact on the personal style of Kimmie Meissner, 29, as evidenced by the skater-style skirt the Canton resident wore to Babe’s Birthday Bash.

“I always got to wear amazing costumes, especially in my professional career. I got to experiment with different things. And I loved that. I wore so many amazing dresses. I’m always drawn to those skirts that are a little flouncy and flirty. I always like my tops to be tighter fitting and my bottoms to be looser,” said Meissner.

Now a skating coach, Meissner said she starts physician school in June. But there are some other major plans in the works — her summer wedding to Josh Heyne, 29, where style is also taking a leading role.

“I’m spending all my time looking at wedding dresses. My mom and I will go, and I’ll try on different shapes and styles. I’ll be sold on one thing and say yes. Then I try on something else and I love it, too,” she said.

There, too, her fashion history was coming into play.

“The only thing I know is that I’m not drawn to beading. My professional dresses had a ton of bling on them. It makes me feel like it’s a professional dress,” she noted.

HER ENSEMBLE: Black knit top with ¾ length sleeves from Free People store. Black skater-style skirt with pleated ruffle hem from BCBG store. Black tuxedo jacket from Anthropologie. Black tights. Black suede over-the-knee wedge boots; white, gold and crystal wrap bracelet; and black leather and suede cross-body bag from Francesca’s.
