Best-selling author’s Crownsville home goes on market for $850K
A spacious suburban property at 650 Tailwind Lane in Crownsville, home to best-selling author Kami Garcia and her family since 2013, is now on the market for for $849,400.
Garcia, whose “Beautiful Creatures” novel was adapted into a major motion picture in 2013 — featuring stars like Emmy Rossum, Rachel Brosnahan, Emma Thompson and Viola Davis — has penned over 20 books, anthologies and short stories in her career.
The 6,000-square-foot home in the residential Overlook community includes a writing room, where Garcia wrote seven of her 11 young-adult novels, including her first solo series and her forthcoming “Teen Titans” series for DC Comics. The room is bathed in natural light and features hardwood floors.
Ani Gonzalez-Brunet, the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage agent handling the listing, said the roomy dwelling offers residents close proximity to D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore while providing an ideal location to raise a family: The 200-acre wooded neighborhood, she said, houses children of all ages.
“It’s huge versus a lot of other homes,” said Gonzalez-Brunet, adding that the home’s exterior features a one-acre lot for children to play and for adults to gather and entertain. “It’s really a great house for a big family.”
The elegant four-bedroom, four-bathroom residence — built in 2004 — features a grand foyer, walk-in closets, a walk-in pantry, hardwood floors, a lower-level recreation area, a three-car garage and a stone-paved patio.
Gonzalez-Brunet said the home offers a “private” and “customizable” feel, perhaps attributable to the renovations totaling $150,000 installed by Garcia and her husband Alex, a video game producer. Upgrades include new countertops and sleek, oilpainted railings in the foyer.
“Our home is an eclectic mix of traditional charm and modern luxury,” Garcia said in a statement. “It will always hold a special place in our hearts.”
