Towson trounces Maine to go 3-0

Despite losing its top running back to an injury early, Towson turned in a dominant performance against host Maine, coasting to a 45-23 victory Saturday night.

Yeedee Thaenrat helped make up for the absence of Shane Simpson in the Tigers’ backfield, rushing for four touchdowns to help his team improve to 3-0.

Quarterback Tom Flacco had a strong performance, completing 20 of 34 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown as well as rushing for 68 yards on seven carries.

McDaniel 13, Moravian 10: McDaniel’s defense forced seven turnovers and the offense scored the final 10 points, including a touchdown catch by Nick Alberto in the back corner of the end zone with 12 seconds remaining for a 13-10 win over Moravian in the Centennial Conference opener. The Green Terror (2-0) was led by Nah’shon Godfrey (City), who made nine tackles, including a sack, two interceptions and a pass breakup. Frostburg Sate 52, Concord 14: Gavin Lavat ran for three first-half touchdowns to power the Bobcats (2-0). Lavat, an Edgewarter resident who played at DeMatha, finished with 141 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Salisbury 24, Wisconsin-Oshkosh 19: The host Sea Gulls (2-0) built a 24-0 lead and held on for the win. Chad Gleason rushed for 113 yards on seven carries and Michael Fowler (Perry Hall), Hopeton Mair and Damien King had touchdowns for Salisbury.

Bowie State 26, Shaw 21: The Bulldogs (2-0) scored the final 14 points on a Juantez McRae punt return with 2:46 left and Gaston Cooper’s 5-yard touchdown pass to DuShon David with 18 seconds remaining.

James Madison 63, Morgan State 12: The Dukes, the second-ranked team in FCS, coasted past the Bears and Ben Dinucci passed for four touchdowns. Deandre Harris passed for 253 yards and a touchdown for Morgan (0-2).
