House of Ruth Maryland Crabaret
When it comes to dressing for the occasion, Ashley Urbanski, 33, knows her stuff. The Canton resident said she’s always been into fashion, but her job as the Bacardi Washington D.C. customer market manager has helped hone her styling skills.
“I’m responsible for the commercial sales in the region; bars, restaurants and liquor stores. I’m constantly out and about. [I] need to be relatable. How I dress depends on whom I’m meeting with. If it’s [management of ] with a fine dining restaurant, I’m more likely to wear a blazer. If I’m working with an account down at the beach, I’m a little more resort casual, but still professional,” she explained.
So, what was the criteria for “Crabaret?”
“It was kind of rainy. I knew I wanted to wear flats, but flats that were nice. It was still summer; it was pretty hot. I wanted something breathable but cool. I knew it was an indoor-outdoor event. So, I wore palazzo pants for the air conditioning, but with a crop top,” Urbanski said.
However, the temperatures weren’t the only reason she went with the palazzos. There was another element to the crab-themed occasion that Urbanski was determined to accommodate.
“I love those pants because I feel like I’m wearing sweatpants. They’re comfortable. I wanted to eat crabcakes all night. And I didn’t want to suck it in all night,” she said.
