Celtics’ Hay­ward suf­fers bro­ken hand

Gor­don Hay­ward broke his left hand after col­lid­ing with the Spurs’ LaMar­cus Aldridge in the Celtics’ 135115 win.

Hay­ward was sent for an X-ray that con­firmed the di­ag­no­sis. After the game, it was an­nounced that he will miss at least a month and could face surgery.

Hay­ward winced in pain after bang­ing his left hand against Aldridge’s chest at­tempt­ing to get past the Spurs for­ward on a screen late in the first half. Hay­ward ap­peared to jam the hand once or twice more against Aldridge be­fore ex­it­ing the game.

Hay­ward had nine points and two re­bounds in 15 min­utes. He is av­er­ag­ing 20.3 points this sea­son.

Hay­ward missed the 2017 sea­son after break­ing his leg six min­utes into the Celtics’ sea­son opener.

Layups: Rap­tors PG Kyle Lowry will miss at least two weeks and sixth-man Serge Ibaka will be side­lined in­def­i­nitely with in­juries , ESPN.com re­ported. Both play­ers were hurt in the Rap­tors’ 122-104 win over the Pel­i­cans on Fri­day night in the opener of a five-game road trip. Lowry has a frac­ture of the dis­tal pha­lanx of his left thumb and will be reeval­u­ated in two weeks. Ibaka suf­fered a sprained right an­kle and will have ad­di­tional test­ing in Los An­ge­les . ... 76ers G Ben Sim­mons will miss his sec­ond straight game against the Hor­nets with a shoul­der sprain.
