Giannis sits again with back soreness

-

Reigning league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo missed a second straight game Saturday because of back soreness.

A day after sitting out the Bucks’ 112-86 road win over the Hawks, Antetokounmpo remained on the bench against the Magic.

The Bucks are off Sunday and then face the Bulls on Monday.

“His back is something I guess would be in that category of something we manage and keep our eyes on, and sometimes it flares up,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said before Friday’s game. “... But you’re hopeful that it’s not anything significant, even though it is something that we kind of monitor on a regular basis.”

Young out: Guard Trae Young missed the Hawks’ road game against the Bulls on Saturday after spraining his right ankle during Friday night’s loss to the Bucks.

He will miss at least the one game.

Layups: Nikola Jokic scored a season-high 31 points, and added 10 rebounds and 10 assists for his seventh triple-double of the season, leading the host Nuggets to a 119-110 victory over the Grizzlies. ... Zach Randolph announced that he retired. Randolph, 38, finished his 17-year career with 18,578 points and 10,208 rebounds. He played for the Trail Blazers, Knicks, Clipper, Grizzlies and Kings, and his last game was in March 2018.
