St. Frances girls cap­ture 13th straight at Pitts­burgh event

No. 1 St. Frances girls basketball won its 13th straight game beat­ing Oak­land Catholic (Pa.), 67-34, at the Stand Against Vi­o­lence Show­case tour­na­ment in Pitts­burgh on Sat­ur­day.

St. Frances faces Imhotep Char­ter (Pa.) in Sun­day’s se­cond round at 1 p.m. in Philadel­phia. The Pan­thers (14-1) haven’t lost a game since Dec. 12 when they fell to Riverdale Bap­tist, 57-53, at the DMV Su­per Games.

The Ea­gles fell to 8-4.

Car­roll Chris­tian 46, Gran­ite Bap­tist 29: Syd­ney Wooden scored her 1,000th ca­reer point and led the Pa­tri­ots (8-3) past the host Braves (5-9) on Fri­day. Wooden fin­ished with 14 points, 14 re­bounds, 10 as­sists and four steals.

Camille Echegoyen had 12 points and eight re­bounds for Car­roll Chris­tian, which led 23-14 in the first half. Quynn Reed had a game-high 20 points for Gran­ite Bap­tist.

Boys basketball

Car­roll Chris­tian 71, Gran­ite Bap­tist 63: Josiah Al­baugh and Reg­gie Tins­ley each scored 13 points and Sean Gold­smith had 12 points to lead the vis­it­ing Pa­tri­ots (8-7) over the Braves (8-7) Fri­day.

Car­roll Chris­tian had five play­ers score be­tween nine and 13 points. Gran­ite Bap­tist took a five-point lead be­fore the Pa­tri­ots scored 29 points in the fourth quar­ter to win.

South River 72, Severna Park 71: Jami­son Gask­ins col­lected 15 points and 10 re­bounds and Dom Mirack had 12 points as the Sea­hawks just got by the Fal­cons.

David Foust scored nine points and Cash Herndon had eight points for South River (8-6).

Meade 60, Glen Burnie 52: TJ Speight man­aged 18 points and six as­sists and Nasir Brock­ing­ton pro­duced 13 points and five as­sists as the Mus­tangs won on the road for the first time this sea­son by de­feat­ing the Go­phers Fri­day night.

St. John’s C. P. 79, Sev­ern 56: Adam Ang­wafo reg­is­tered 14 points, while Ian Mun­roe and Baylin Groff pro­vided 11 points apiece, but the Ad­mi­rals (5-11) fell to the Vik­ings Fri­day night.

North­east 46, Ch­e­sa­peake 36: Jaylin Albury scored 14 points and handed out six as­sists and Trent McNeill con­tributed 10 points and five as­sists as the Ea­gles beat the ri­val Cougars on Fri­day night. Dar­rell Shep­pard fin­ished with nine points and eight re­bounds for North­east (10-3).

Old MIll 77, North County 73: Kyjuan John­son reg­is­tered 21 points and Nick Stacey pitched in with 11 points as the Pa­tri­ots de­feated the Knights.

St. Mary’s 49, Chapel­gate 36: Mike Parme ac­counted for 16 points and Ja­cob Aryee was re­spon­si­ble for 14 points as the Saints han­dled the Yel­low Jack­ets Fri­day night.
