Bru­ins stay hot against Coy­otes

Charlie Coyle scored two goals, and the Bru­ins beat the Coy­otes 4-2 on Satur­day in Bos­ton for their 16th straight vic­tory in the series.

The NHL-lead­ing Bru­ins earned their sixth con­sec­u­tive win. Pa­trice Berg­eron and Jake DeBrusk each had a power-play score 2:29 apart in the sec­ond pe­riod, and Coyle’s sec­ond was a late empty-net­ter.

It’s the Bru­ins’ long­est win­ning streak against any foe, sur­pass­ing a 15-game stretch against the Fly­ers dur­ing the Bobby Orr-era from 1970-72 when the Bru­ins won two Stan­ley Cups (’70, ’72).

The Bru­ins’ last loss to the Coy­otes came on Oct. 9, 2010, a 5-2 set­back in what was a Bru­ins’ home game in Prague.

Laine hat trick pow­ers Jets: Pa­trik Laine scored a hat trick with three power-play goals to pro­pel the Jets to a 5-2 vic­tory against the vis­it­ing Sen­a­tors.

It was Laine’s eighth ca­reer hat trick and gave the Jets points in four straight games af­ter a five-game los­ing streak.

The Sen­a­tors are win­less in their last five games.

One-timers: Bray­den Point, Steven Stamkos and Carter Ver­haeghe scored and the host Light­ning beat the Is­landers 3-1 to push their win­ning streak to six games . ... Macken­zie Black­wood stopped a penalty shot and made 37 saves in post­ing his sec­ond straight shutout as the Devils downed the vis­it­ing Kings 3-0. The Devils ex­tended their points streak to a sea­son-high six games.
