VERMEHREN, Michael

On Saturday, May 15th, 2021, Michael Werner Vermehren, loving husband of Janet Vermehren-Shepler and father of Andrew Vermehren-Shepler, passed away at his home in Towson, Maryland at the age of 76.

Michael was born on October 11th, 1944 in Remkersleb­en, Germany to Julius Bernhard Vermehren and Lieselotte Vermehren (née Cuwie) and was the youngest of 6 children. Encouraged by his parents to travel, he arrived in the United States in 1967 at the age of 23.

Michael worked as an administra­tor in internatio­nal trade for 50 years, primarily in the Baltimore, Maryland area. Between 1972 and 1996, Michael worked for ITC, Inc. where he became an executive Vice President.Having struggled in the crowded schools of post-war Germany, one of his proudest achievemen­ts was receiving his Master’s degree in Business Administra­tion from Loyola College of Maryland in 1996. Between 1996-2012, he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for RF Valves, and between 2001-2018 was also the COO for a related business, Spare Parts Depot.

On August 21st, 1977, he married Janet Ann Shepler and was a devoted husband for 43 years.

Michael was a man of quiet intellect and impressive work ethic. As an active member of the Society of Friends and the Stony Run Meeting, Michael always treated others with respect and kindness, regardless of age, race, or station. Michael also had a passion for genealogy, reading, classical music, and German cars from the 1950’s and 60’s. Travelling was one of his favorite activities, and nothing brought him more joy than visiting loving friends and family in his native Germany. In fact, he was all prepared for a final trip to Germany when he passed away.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Julius, his mother, Lieselotte, and his brother, Joachim. He is survived by his wife Janet, his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Jessica, his grandson Rocklan, his siblings Klaus, Eckart, Rüdeger, and Barbara, as well as many nieces, nephews, and god-children.

A memorial service will be held at the Stony Run Friends Meeting (5116 N Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21210) on August 7th at 10:50am. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted at the following humanitari­an organizati­ons: American Friends Service Committee Education Fund, Doctors without Borders, or the Maryland Food Bank.

WARREN, Gloria V.

On June 6, 2021, Gloria V. Warren, beloved wife of Reginald C. Warren, Sr., loving mother of Reginald C. Warren Jr. (Theressa) and Rodney C. Warren (Nannette), She is also survived by a host of loving relatives and friends. She was born on July 19, 1937, (83yrs. old) in Durham, N.C., to the late Thomas L. Vickers and the late Lattice Cole Vickers. Gloria was a Social Worker and former Assistant Director of the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. She holds graduate degrees in History (Ph.D) from Morgan State and Social Work (MSW) from the University of Maryland. Gloria is a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Friends may visit The Family Owned, March Funeral Home West, Inc., 4300 Wabash Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215 on Tuesday, where the family will receive from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and on Wednesday where the family will receive friends at 2:00 pm followed by funeral services at 2:30pm. Cards and condolence­s can be mailed to March Funeral Home.
