Calvert Hall baseball boss Eckerl sets program mark with his 461st victory

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action from Friday.

Baseball

Calvert Hall 4, Mount Saint Joseph 3: The host Cardinals (7-3, 4-1 MIAA A Conference) won their fifth straight, beating the Gaels (8-4, 2-2).

Calvert Hall coach Lou Eckerl, in his 21st and final season, set a school record with his 461st win, eclipsing predecesso­r Joe Binder’s mark of 460.

The Cardinals trailed by a run going into the bottom of the sixth, but Dylan Aguilera hit a two-run homer for the go-ahead runs. Tyler Gibbons also had an RBI for the Cardinals.

Pikesville 11, Kenwood 1: The Panthers scored six runs in the first inning and three more in the second as they moved to 6-0.

Ronald Jenkins singled, doubled and drove in two, while Brain Wilder Jr. also drove in two runs for Pikesville. Colby Mekiliesky struck out 11 in five innings.

Dulaney 2, Sparrows Point 0: John Kirstukas (4-0) threw a one-hit shutout for the visiting Lions, striking out 10.

Hereford 9, Franklin 0: The Bulls (6-1) won their sixth straight on the back of a three-hit shutout as Liam Diehl struck out 11 in six innings. Offensivel­y, Andrew Larkin drove in four runs.

Randallsto­wn 17, Loch Raven 8: Jahsha Stevens was 5-for-5 with three doubles and six RBIs to lead Randallsto­wn (3-3).

River Hill 10, Oakland Mills 0: Eje Okojie led the Hawks (7-0, 7-0 Howard County), finishing 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Matthew Rogers threw four scoreless innings, allowing three hits with four strikeouts.

Liberty 11, Westminste­r 1: Quinn Petrosky opened a fourth-inning rally with a two-run double, followed by back-to-back home runs by Anthony Zombro and Camden Hodges.

Boys’Latin 3,AACS 2: Colton Bordick hit a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Lakers a narrow win over the Eagles. Mark Windle had a base hit and an RBI for Boys’ Latin.

Indian Creek 11, Glenelg Country 1: Logan Frazier launched a three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning, and Ben Bucci and Riley Handwerger added a double apiece to lead the Eagles over the Dragons.

John Carroll 5, Gilman 1: Matthew Bishop hit a two-run homer, and Frank Adamski had two hits and two RBIs for the Patriots. Three pitchers combined on a four-hitter, with William Weiman credited with the win.

Broadneck 3, Chesapeake 2: Calvin Cook delivered a two-run, walk-off double and Anthony Cirrincion­e doubled earlier in the inning to score Sean Murphy as the Bruins scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Cougars.

Jack Holmes threw a complete game, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out two.

Old Mill 13, Meade 2: Maison Beam had two hits and drove in two runs, while Myles Fulton added three hits to lead the Patriots over the Mustangs.

North County 14, Arundel 11: Kevin Santos went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and Cole Patraska added a hit and three RBIs as the Knights scored five runs in both the second and third innings in a victory over the Wildcats.

South River 4, Northeast 3: Aiden Cassilly hit a three-run homer, and Dustin Danckwerth gave up three runs on five hits and struck out seven in 6 ⅓ innings as the Seahawks beat the host Eagles.

Fallston 8, Rising Sun 3: The host Cougars won their sixth straight, beating the Tigers.

Softball

Francis Scott Key 17, Brunswick: 2: The offensive combinatio­n of Emma Taft, Emma Tawney and Jasmine Kline was nearly unstoppabl­e, combining for nine hits and 10 RBIs. Tawney was 3-for-3 with a single, double, triple and four RBIs. Taft and Kline each went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Kline struck out eight in the circle to get the win.

Liberty 7, Westminste­r 2: The Lions (5-3) won their fourth straight. A two-run homer by Leyla Hoffman gave them the lead in the fourth inning. She finished with three RBIs.

Sarah Hart got the win in the circle, striking out eight while throwing a six-hitter.

Manchester Valley 13, Winters Mill 3: The Mavericks belted 20 hits in the win. Caitlin Boden, Makenna Murry and Grace Wood each drove in two runs. Makenna Deane struck out nine in six innings.

South River 14, Northeast 10: Tied at 8-all going to extra innings, South River scored seven in the top of the eighth, and Northeast couldn’t match it. Gracie Solarz hit for the cycle for the Seahawks, driving in three runs in the game.

Arundel 7, North County 1: Savannah Brooks belted a solo homer and Bria Sewell followed two batters later with a two-run homer as the Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal the victory over the Knights.

Emma Schurr added a solo homer and Sierra Williams had a run-scoring double for winning pitcher Kathryn Wisor, who stuck out eight and allowed three hits.

Chesapeake 11, Broadneck 0: Norah Hart went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while winning pitcher Kendall Thomas finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs as the Cougars shut out the Bruins.

Bel Air 14, Bohemia Manor 0: Caroline Hilyard threw a one-hitter over five innings, walking one and striking out six as the host Bobcats shut out the Eagles.

North East 5, North Harford 4: The host Indians hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to win. Maggie Mullin hit a home run for the Hawks.

Harford Tech 10, C. Milton Wright 0: Lacey Swart went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI for the Cobras. Kattie Burr singled, doubled and drove in two runs. Lillie Uttenreith­er also drove in two.

Sparrows Point 13, Dundalk 1: Dundalk (5-3, 5-1) surrendere­d four walks and committed six errors in a six-run third inning for the Pointers.

Scarlett Miller tripled, singled and drove in five in the win. Taylor Rodgers struck out eight in five innings.

Boys lacrosse

McDonogh 8, Loyola Blakefield 7: Luke Miller scored his second goal to give the host Eagles (6-3, 2-1 Maryland Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n A Conference) an 8-6 lead in the fourth quarter, and McDonogh held on to beat the Dons (4-5, 2-2). The win was the Eagles’ third straight.

St. Paul’s 13, Calvert Hall 9: The host Crusaders (7-3, 1-3 MIAA A Conference) broke a 9-9 tie in the fourth by scoring four unanswered goals. The win broke a threegame losing streak.

The Cardinals fell to 7-3, 1-2.

Archbishop Spalding 10, Gilman 8: The visiting Cavaliers (9-0, 3-0 MIAA A Conference) have won their last two games. The Greyhounds fell to 6-6, 1-2.

Indian Creek 19, Sts. Peter & Paul 7: Willer Mercer scored six goals and Nick Stroble had five to lead the host Indians (6-1, 2-0 MIAA B Conference) past the Sabres (1-4, 0-1). Mercer scored his 150th career goal.

Indian Creek has won six straight.

Key 17, Chapelgate 1: Jaeden Clark accounted for seven goals and two assists, Reid Chapman added three goals and six assists and Teddy Fleming contribute­d three goals and three assists as the Obezags dominated the Yellow Jackets.

Archbishop Curley 16, Northeast 10: Caleb Harie scored four times, while Jake Louis, Liam Roesener, Kanell Ward and Dominic Broadwater added two goals apiece as the Friars scored nine goals in the third quarter to defeat the Eagles.

St. Mary’s 7, Mount Saint Joseph 5: Jake Kucinski had two goals and two assists, while Will Hopkins and Jake Adams added two goals apiece as the Saints remained unbeaten at 8-0 with the win over the Gaels.

Broadneck 20, Annapolis 2: Kyle Pierce delivered four goals, while Gregg Bowman and Jake Schroll recorded a hat trick apiece as the Bruins handled the Panthers.

South River 7, Arundel 6: Henry Sykes and Trevor Phipps each scored three goals and Kyle Matlick added a goal as the Seahawks squeaked by the Wildcats.

Severna Park 19, Southern 6: Nolan Zborai accounted for six goals and an assist, and Joaquin Villagomez registered three goals and two assists to lead the Falcons past the Bulldogs.

North County 13, Chesapeake 9: Josh Martel led all scorers with five goals and three assists, and Matthew Martell added four goals and three assists to lead the Knights to the victory over the Cougars.

Crofton 16, Glen Burnie 4: Travis Peach tallied two goals, Colin Flannery had a goal, Gage Carter handed out two assists and Brandon Loyko made 10 saves, but the Gophers lost to the Cardinals.

Fallston 16, Harford Tech 3: Lucas Hurlburt had four goals and Michael Estremsky had three to lead the host Cougars over the Cobras.

Girls lacrosse

Towson 13, Dulaney 6: The Generals improved to 5-0, powered by Meghan Cottrell’s 14 saves. She was backed by the defensive play of Izzy Sabatino and Charlotte Ross. Offensivel­y, Kara Janishefsk­i and Brigid Vaikness each scored three goals.

St Mary’s 16, Gerstell 10: In the losing effort for Gerstell, Kirsten Clarius totaled five points (two goals, three assists).

Keeley Ballard added four goals and Kylie Redman had three goals. Sophomore Ava Reed had 11 saves.

Crofton 17, Glen Burnie 0: Kylie Corcoran totaled two goals and three assists, while Lindsay Roberts had two goals and two assists to lead the Cardinals over the Gophers. Cami Bowker, Lauren Alexander, Chizara Duru provided two goals apiece for Crofton (4-2).

North County 11, Chesapeake 4: Alyssa Yost deposited seven goals and handed out an assist and Natalia Cosentino helped with two goals as the Knights handled the Cougars.

Broadneck 15, Annapolis 1: Reagan Baldwin and Lexi Dupcak each netted two goals and two assists, while Sam Lavorini had a goal and three assists to guide the Bruins over the Panthers.

Severna Park 17, Southern 4: Alyssa GoreChung provided five goals and an assist, and Charlotte Diez added two goals and four assists to lead the Falcons (4-1) to the win over the Bulldogs.

Harford Tech 16, North East 4: Madison Partridge and Ashley McElwain each scored three goals to lead the host Cobras over the Indians.
