City has 5 turnovers in 40-0 rout by Edmondson

No. 15 City fumbled the opening kickoff and things got worse from there as Edmondson capitalize­d on five turnovers and shut out the host Knights, 40-0, on Friday.

The Red Storm (5-3) scored 20 points in the first quarter, starting with a 3-yard touchdown run by Darrell Woods, set up by the fumbled kickoff two minutes into the game.

Edmondson quarterbac­k Daniel Williams completed seven of 14 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns. City fell to 6-2.

NO. 4MEADE42, NORTHCOUNT­Y0: Daryl Pate completed seven of 13 for 185 yards and three touchdowns to lead the visiting Mustangs (7-1) past the Knights (1-6). Meade led 28-0 after the first quarter. ST. MARY’S 36, NO. 6 ST. PAUL’S 34: Trailing 34-33 in the fourth quarter, Jake Ellis made a field goal as the visiting Saints (4-4, 2-2 Maryland Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n B Conference) upset the Crusaders (7-1, 3-1).

Earlier in the quarter, Ellis completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Sears.

NO. 7 RIVER HILL 49, OAKLAND MILLS 6: The host Hawks (7-1) scored 35 unanswered points and the Scorpions fell to 3-5.

The Hawks’ Aiden Gelb rushed for two touchdowns, and Alex Potocko made all seven extra-point attempts.

NO. 10 ARCHBISHOP CURLEY 34, SEVERN7: Deonte Harris had six carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead the visiting Friars (8-1, 3-1 MIAA B Conference) past the Admirals (4-4, 1-3).

Michael Bucci scored all of Severn’s points, running for a 2-yard touchdown and kicking the extra point.

Curley next faces host John Carroll at 7 p.m. Friday. The Friars clinched a spot in the B Conference championsh­ip game with the win over Severn.

NO. 14 PERRY HALL 55, KENWOOD 28: Jeff Iweh completed 10 of 13 passes for 124 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown to power the visiting Gators (7-1) past the Bluebirds (5-3).

Perry Hall led 14-0 before Kenwood returned a kickoff to the Perry Hall 20, and the ensuing drive cut the lead to 14-7. The Gators scored 28 points in the second quarter to pull away.

CARVER55, MARITIME INDUSTRIES 14: Chris Jones had 220 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns to power the visiting Bears (8-0) past the Anchors (3-4).

Jones scored on an 85-yard kickoff return, on a 40-yard intercepti­on return and on runs of 10 and 28 yards. Tyrell Jessup had eight carries for 109 yards and two touchdowns for Carver.

ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 28, GEORGETOWN­PREP24: Trailing 24-21, the visiting Cavaliers (6-2) rallied as Ronnie Beswick had an 83-yard kickoff return with 11:47 left to take the lead for good. The Little Hoyas fell to 4-4.

NO. 1 MCDONOGH 5, NO. 6 ARCHBISHOP CURLEY 0: The host Eagles (18-0, 14-0 MIAA A Conference) were led by Connor Smith with two goals and an assist in their13th shutout, beating the Friars (10-9, 7-8).

NO. 9 LOYOLA 1, NO. 10 GILMAN 1, 2OT: For the second time this season, the Dons (9-8-2, 6-7-2) and Greyhounds (8-6-3, 6-6-3) played to a 1-all tie.

Gavin Barger converted on a free kick to give Loyola a 1-0 lead with 28 minutes left in the game.

Peter Brown tied the score for Gilman with six minutes left.

NO. 12 JOHN CARROLL 2, ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 0: Camillo Fortunato and Dylan Kidd each scored a goal to lead the visiting Patriots (11-9-2, 6-8-1) past the Cavaliers (5-12-2, 3-11-1).

Girls soccer

NO. 11 BELAIR10, DUNDALK0: Natalie Decker had a hat trick to lead the host Bobcats (12-3) past the Owls (2-10) in a Class 3A North sectional quarterfin­al.

Bel Air faces North Harford (5-3), a1-0 winner over Aberdeen, on Tuesday.
