Reds hit 2 slams, outslug Brewers

Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier hit grand slams in consecutiv­e innings as the visiting Reds belted five homers Tuesday night in a 16-10 victory over the Brewers.

Bruce unloaded for a 4-0 lead in the third. After the Brewers tied it, Frazier cracked his slam for an 8-4 lead in the fourth.

The Brewers’ Elian Herrera also hit a grand slam. Mets 7, Braves 1: Curtis Granderson went 3-for-5 and drove in four as the Mets extended their winning streak to nine. Phillies 7, Marlins 3: Freddy Galvis and Ryan Howard hit two-run homers. Jerome Williams allowed two earned runs and struck out six in six innings. Red Sox 1, Rays 0: Wade Miley and four relievers combined on a four-hitter and Ryan Hanigan scored on an error. Blue Jays 13, Orioles 6: Edwin Encarnacio­n smashed a pair of home runs and Jose Bautista added a two-run shot. Ryan Goins drove in three for the Jays.

Cubs 9, Pirates 8: Starlin Castro tied it with a two-run single and Welington Castillo added the go-ahead groundout as the Cubs rallied with three in the ninth. Yankees 5, Tigers 2: Chris Young and Stephen Drew homered in a three-run seventh. Nate Eovaldi allowed one run in seven innings to earn the win. Nationals 2, Cardinals 1: Yunel Escobar homered to left with two outs in the 10th as the Nationals ended the Cardinals’ five-game winning streak. Royals 6, Twins 5: Mike Moustakas hit a two-run homer, then drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the eighth. Indians 6, White Sox 2: Carlos Santana and David Murphy homered and Ryan Raburn added a two-run single. Padres 7, Rockies 6: Derek Norris hit a tiebreakin­g, two-run double in the eighth as the Padres rallied to earn their third straight win. Rangers at Diamondbac­ks: Prince Fielder hit a two-run homer during a four-run eighth. Nick Martinez allowed one run in six innings. Athletics at Angels: The A’s Stephen Vogt entered with four homers and 12 RBIs. The Angels sought to end a three-game skid. Astros at Mariners: Collin McHugh was 9-0 with a 1.74 ERA in 12 starts since July 27 for the Astros. Dodgers at Giants: The Dodgers’ seven-game hitting streak was their longest since a 10-game run in August 2013.
