Several local men, women earn All-America honors

A number of players with local connection­s were named preseason All-Americans in Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook. Denver junior attackman Connor Cannizzaro (Maryland), Johns Hopkins senior attackman Ryan Brown (Calvert Hall), Duke senior midfielder Deemer Class (Loyola Blakefield) and Maryland senior goalkeeper Kyle Bernlohr were first-team selections. Maryland junior short-stick defensive midfielder Isaiah Davis-Allen, Maryland senior defenseman Matt Dunn (Loyola Blakefield), Ohio State senior defenseman Robby Haus (Gilman) and Notre Dame junior defenseman Garrett Epple (Calvert Hall) made the second team. On the third team were Maryland junior attackman Matt Rambo, Maryland senior midfielder Bryan Cole, Navy junior defender Chris Fennell and Bryant senior goalkeeper Gunnar Waldt (St. Paul’s). WOMEN: Syracuse senior attacker Halle Majorana (Maryland), Maryland sophomore attacker Megan Whittle (McDonogh), Maryland senior midfielder Taylor Cummings (McDonogh), Loyola Maryland senior defender Maddy Lesher, Maryland senior defender Alice Mercer (Century) and Penn State junior defender Abby Smucker (C. Milton Wright) were first-team picks. Johns Hopkins senior midfielder Dene’ DiMartino, Maryland junior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg (Marriotts Ridge), Maryland junior defender Nadine Hadnagy and Loyola Maryland senior goalkeeper Molly Wolf (Bryn Mawr) made the second team, while Penn State senior midfielder Madison Cyr (Winters Mill), Penn State junior midfielder Jenna Mosketti (Fallston), Princeton senior defender Liz Bannantine (McDonogh) and Florida junior defender Taylor Bresnahan (South River) were named to the third team.
