-

A 33-year-old man received a 50-year sentence in Baltimore County Circuit Court on Friday for the murder of his girlfriend and their unborn child in Rosedale last year. Kenneth Walter Worrell pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Summer Smith and the child. Smith, 33, was nine months pregnant when she was killed in June 2014. Smith had been stabbed and cut 121 times when her mother found her dead at the foot of the basement stairs of their home on Travis Court in Rosedale, according to prosecutors. Police found a bank receipt in Worrell’s car from the day of the killings that contained Smith’s blood, prosecutors said. Judge Justin King handed down concurrent life sentences for each murder, suspending all but 50 years, according to the Baltimore County state’s attorney’s office.
