Pallotti boys rally to Bullis final, 55-53

Hammond’s late free throws win it; 3-pointer at buzzer lifts Franklin over Liberty

Everette Hammond made two free throws with nine seconds left to lift No. 15 St. Vincent Pallotti over Blue Ridge (Va.), 55-53, in boys basketball at the Bullis Holiday Classic on Friday.

The Panthers (3-1) advance to face Westtown (Pa.), a 78-60 winner over Takoma Academy, in today’s semifinal.

St. Vincent Pallotti rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat the Barons (2-1).

D.J. Mitchell (11 points) made a 3-pointer to give the Panthers a 53-52 lead with 40 seconds left. Blue Ridge went 1-for-2 from the line to tie the score but fouled Hammond (16 points) on the inbounds pass.

NO. 2 NEW TOWN 62, PERRY HALL 58: The visiting Titans (2-0) took the lead for good with a minute to go before beating the Gators (1-1).

Devon Smith (18 points) went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line to give NewTowna 60-57 lead in the final minute.

NO. 4 LAKE CLIFTON 61, FRIENDSHIP ACADEMY OF ENGINEERIN­G AND TECHNOLOGY 24: Shwantaze Drake scored 16 points to lead the Lakers (2-1) past the host Grizzlies (0-2).

NO. 7 PATTERSON 65, BEN FRANKLIN 53: Richard Hibbert scored 19 points, and the host Clippers (2-1) capitalize­d on 21 turnovers by the Bayhawks (1-2).

NO. 13 DULANEY 87, CATONSVILL­E 70: Joey O’Dwyer had a team-high 23 points, and the visiting Lions (3-0) outscored the Comets (2-1) 28-13 in the fourth quarter.

NO. 14 DUNBAR 58, KNOWLEDGE AND SUCCESS ACADEMY 12: Tramaine Tazwell scored 11 points to lead the visiting Poets (2-0) past the Eagles (0-3).

FRANKLIN 64, LIBERTY 61: Nic Smith made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Indians (3-1) over the host Lions (1-2).

EDMONDSON-WESTSIDE 69, NORTHWESTE­RN 56: Demetrious Haskins scored 26 points to lead the host Red Storm (2-1) past the Wildcats (0-2).

LOYOLA BLAKEFIELD 72, CRISTO REY JESUIT 35: The host Dons (2-5), led by Andrew Fava (12 points), Cameron Shaw (11 points) and Cole Williams (10 points), ended a five-game losing streak, and the Hornets fell to 2-5.

ANNAPOLIS 61, SEVERNA PARK 46: Trey Gross scored 18 points to lead the host Panthers (2-0) past the Falcons (0-3).

ARCHBISHOP­SPALDING82, SIR ALLAN MACNAB (CANADA) 68: Buzz Anthony scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the second half to power the Cavaliers (4-4) past the Lions at the Bullis Holiday Classic.

FRANCIS SCOTT KEY 68, SOUTH CARROLL 66: Jake Gosselin (20 points) banked in the go-ahead 3-pointer with nine seconds left as the host Eagles (2-1) beat the Cavaliers (1-2).
