Two undercover detectives hit by cars in Dundalk arrest attempt

-

Two detectives were hit by cars Thursday morning in Dundalk when they tried to stop two people suspected in a drug deal, police said. The undercover detectives saw what they believed was a drug deal between someone in a white car and someone in a gray car about 11:30 a.m. near Aldworth and Edworth roads. The white car drove away, hitting an unmarked Baltimore County police car and a detective beside the car, police said. That detective was hospitalized at Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. Baltimore City police found the car and arrested the driver on an unrelated charge, police said. They did not identify the driver. The gray car drove off and hit a curb. Then the driver got out and ran. He was picked up by a woman in another car, which hit the second detective, who was on foot and trying to stop them, police said. The second detective suffered minor injuries; he was not hospitalized. That car was later found in the city. The man and woman were arrested, police said. Officers did not release their names.

APG officials confirm vehicle breached security

Aberdeen Proving Ground officials are investigating an incident from last week when an unauthorized vehicle entered the highsecurity Harford County Army post and left a few minutes later. Kelly Luster, an Army spokesperson, confirmed Thursday that a vehicle was seen coming through the post’s Route 22 gate on July 22 without slowing for security. “The vehicle was confirmed leaving the installation, and the safety and security of the APG community is our primary concern,” Luster wrote in an email. “The situation is being investigated fully.” The incident was recorded on a surveillance camera. The driver entered the Route 22 gate, which is reserved for post employees and contractors, and left by the same gate a few minutes later, Luster said. The driver was not detained, according to Luster. Citing the ongoing investigation, Luster declined to provide further details, such as a vehicle description. “There is an ongoing investigation at the conclusion of which law enforcement will determine what, if any, charges may be brought,” Luster stated. The APG police are working with other agencies on the investigation, according to Luster. “If the individual wishes to come forward, they may come to the visitors center and ask for the director of emergency services,” Luster said.
