A man was shot to death in Northeast Baltimore early Thursday, and a 17-year-old male and three women were shot in North Baltimore, police said.

Police identified the dead man as 23year-old Davon Harper. Officers called to the 3000 block of Tivoly Ave. in Coldstream-Homestead-Montebello at 3:45 a.m. found Harper with a gunshot wound to the torso.

Harper, who lived in O’Donnell Heights, was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found the teenager in the 300 block of Whitridge Ave. in Harwood about 1:50 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his hand. Officers later found the women, ages 25, 32 and 51, with gunshot wounds in the 2600 block of Greenmount Ave.

The 51-year-old woman was in critical condition, police said. The teenager and the two other women were being treated at a local hospital.

Police spokesman Donny Moses said the teenager and women were shot on Greenmount Avenue, and the teenager ran home. He said police do not know the motive.

Greenmount Avenue is the border between the Harwood and Better Waverly neighborhoods. Before Thursday, there had been one shooting in Better Waverly this year and none in Harwood, according to police data.

Darius Bruce, 20, was shot to death in Better Waverly in March.

Residents sitting on their porches or walking the along nearby Whitridge Avenue described the area as quiet and welcoming.

David Barnes, 27, moved to the neighborhood two years ago. He said he knows most of his neighbors and pointed to the homes of friends.

“It’s generally a pretty friendly neighborhood,” he said.

Eric Kennedy, 47, who moved in 10 years ago, said the neighborhood is in transition. More homeowners and professionals live there, he said.

“There’s some [criminal] activity,” he said.

Police asked anyone with information about the shootings to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
