Orioles outfield prospect DJ Stewart has been selected to participat­e in this weekend’s Arizona Fall League “Fall Stars Game.” The game, which will take place Saturday at 8:08 p.m., will be broadcast on MLB Network and streamed on MLB.com. At least one player from each team was selected to participat­e. Stewart, who was the Orioles’ first-round draft pick in 2015, is hitting .222/ .375/.333 with no homers and five RBIs in 12 Arizona Fall League games playing for the Peoria Javelinas. He will play on the West Division AllStars. Short-season Aberdeen pitching coach Justin Lord will be the pitching coach for the West Division, and high Class-A Frederick manager Keith Bodie will be a coach with the West. In his first full pro season, Stewart, from Florida State, hit .254/.377/.399 with 10 homers, 55 RBIs and 26 for 35 on stolen base attempts between low-A Delmarva and Frederick. Stewart saw his most success as a pro once he received a promotion to Frederick in May, hitting .279/.389/.448 with six homers and 30 RBIs in 59 games. Four of his 11 punts have been fair caught and four have been 50 yards or more. Ten semifinali­sts for the award will be announced Friday and the three finalists will be named Nov. 22. MEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Frostburg State sophomore Carvell Akuffo (Reservoir) was named Capital Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY: Maryland seniors Welma Luus and Emma Rissinger were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Associatio­n Division I Senior Game, which will be played Nov. 19 in Norfolk, Va., the site of the NCAA championsh­ip. WOMEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER: Junior midfielder Natalie Dzhandzhap­anyan was named to the All-Patriot League second team, and teammates senior forward Rachel Feldman, junior forward Meghan Hegarty, junior forward Clare MacAdam and junior defender Megan Rogers were placed on the third team. Loyola Maryland senior defender Nicole Wahlig was selected to the second team. WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Freshman setter Marrisa Wonders was named Colonial Athletic Associatio­n Rookie of the Week. NBA: Former Morgan State guard Rasean Simpson was selected by the Santa Cruz Warriors in the Developmen­t League Draft on Sunday. Simpson was taken with the second pick of the fifth round by Santa Cruz, which is the official affiliate of the Golden State Warriors. Simpson was present for Santa Cruz’s player workout in Oakland, Calif., earlier this month. He completed his senior season with the Bears by starting in 21 of 25 games played, and averaged12.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. —
