Bel Air enjoys sweep in soccer competitio­n

No. 12 boys top No. 9 Catonsvill­e, 3-1; No. 8 girls shut out Aberdeen, 5-0

Catonsvill­e’s Luke Palmisano scored 33 seconds into the game, but visiting Bel Air (11-4-1) rallied for a 3-1 win in the Class 4A North Region Section I boys soccer semifinals on Tuesday night.

Ethan Clark had the assist for the No. 9 Comets (10-3-2).

Connor Lorenz, Jacob Rannie and Vincent Rose scored for the No. 12 Bobcats.

Ryan Albright and Grayson Harper had assists and goalie Cameron Riley finished with six saves.

“These guys were really motivated to come out here and play in their senior season and make a difference,” said Bel Air coach Dominic Rose, whose squad lost to Catonsvill­e 2-0 last year in the regional playoffs.

NO. 4 MOUNT HEBRON 4, GLENELG 2: Alex Simak had two assists for the host Vikings (13-1) in a Class 3A East Section I semifinal.

Brady Barajas scored twice for the Gladiators (6-8-1).

NO. 10 TOWSON4, EDGEWOOD1: Austin Kirts scored two goals to lead the host Generals (12-2-2) past the Rams (6-4-1) in a Class 3A North Section II semifinal.

Towson will host No. 13 C. Milton Wright, a 3-2 winner over Patapsco in overtime, in Friday’s section final.

NO. 14 EASTERN TECH 4, PATAPSCO 1: Andrew Wdzieczkow­ski had a goal and an assist to lead the Mavericks (11-5) past the host Patriots (11-5) in a Class 2A North Section I semifinal.

Eastern Tech faces Sparrows Point in Friday’s section final at 5 p.m. at CCBCEssex.

NO. 15 CHESAPEAKE-AA 3, JAMES M. BENNETT 1: The visiting Cougars (11-2-3) went on a 2-0 run in the second half to beat the Clippers in a Class 3A East Section II semifinal.

SPARROWS POINT 8, NORTHWESTE­RN0: Tanner Babischkin and John Herget each scored two goals to lead the Pointers (9-3) past the host Wildcats (3-3-2) in a Class 2A North Section I semifinal.

LANSDOWNE 4, POLY 1: The host Vi- kings (12-0-1) kept their unbeaten record intact with a victory over the visiting Engineers (5-7-1) in a Class 3A North Section I semifinal.

Senior forward Bryan Rios Buruca had a hat trick — his third of the season — to lead Lansdowne.
