Mount edges George Mason

Chris Wray had 21 points and 10 rebounds and his dunk with a second left in overtime lifted Mount St. Mary’s over host George Mason, 78-76, on Friday night.

The Patriots’ Justin Kier hit two free throws to tie the score at 76 with 29 seconds left in overtime before Elijah Long stole the ball from him and the Mountainee­rs called a timeout. Wray got the dunk off the inbounds and a steal as time expired.

Wray’s double double were career highs, and Mount St. Mary’s (1-3) outrebound­ed George Mason (1-2) by 15. Miles Wilson scored a career-high 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting off the bench, and Long and Junior Robinson each added 11.

The Mountainee­rs led 38-37 at halftime, but the Patriots’ Otis Livingston II hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds left to tie the score at 70at the endofregul­ation.

Jalen Jenkins had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Marquis Moore scored 19 with13 rebounds for George Mason.

NOTRE DAME 83, LOYOLA MARYLAND 48: V.J. Beachem scored 21 points and teammate Bonzie Colson added 19 as the Fighting Irish (3-0) coasted past the visiting Greyhounds (1-3).

Andre Walker, Andrew Kostecka, Jarred Jones and James Fives each scored eight points for Loyola.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE 66, NAVY 59: Dexter Werner scored 14 points and the Bison (3-0) beat the Midshipmen (1-2) in the High Point Tournament.

Werner was 6-for-9 from the field and had four of his team’s 10 steals. Tyson Wade, who had a pair of 3-pointers, added 12 points for North Dakota State.

UTAH 94, COPPIN STATE 51: The host Utes (3-0) cruised past the Eagles (0-5) for their third consecutiv­e 40-plus-point victory.

Lorenzo Bonam scored 19 points for Utah, which has won its first three games by a combined 130 points.

Tre’ Thomas, Dejuan Clayton and Keith Shivers scored a team-high 10 apiece for Coppin State.
